The Insulting Blanket is a versatile cover-up device best suited for protection against accidental contact of linemen's bodies with irregular shaped line hardware or apparatus where no specific cover is made or available. W. H. Salisbury & Co. is the leading manufacturer of Linemen's Insulating Blankets and offers the widest range of types, styles and sizes available for use by electrical workers. Each blanket is designed and manufactured to provide insulating quality and flexibility. Blankets are designed for personal protection only. Caution should be used when covering sharp or pointed objects that may puncture, cut or injure the blanket. Before packing for shipment, each blanket goes through a series of rigid visual inspections and tests. A dial type micrometer is used to make sure that the thickness of each blanket complies with the current ASTM specifications. Each blanket is also checked by a sensitive electronic metal detector to make certain it is free of metal particles. SALISBURY offers Insulating Blankets in three voltage classes; Class O, with a maximum use voltage of 1000 volts, Class 2, maximum use of 17kV and Class 4, maximum use of 36kV. Blankets are available in two types of material, Type I, natural rubber and Type II SALCOR blankets are corona resistant and have excellent aging and weathering qualities. In-service care requires that Insulating Blankets be inspected on both sides over the entire surface before each use. Blankets found to have holes, tears, cuts, corona cutting or chemical deterioration indicated by swelling, softening, hardening, becoming sticky or inelastic should not be used. Proper storage of Insulating Blankets is important. Blankets should always be stored flat or in a canvas roll-up or canister. They should never be stored folded, creased or compressed in any manner. Do not subject blankets to any form of mechanical stress while in storage. SALISBURY offers a quality line of blanket storage containers and accessories for safe in-service care and use of Insulating Blankets |
