1) Eyelet Blanket The original and most popular Insulating Blanket is available in three sizes. The reinforcing beaded edge and reinforced eyelets (See block 1 insert) give the blanket additional strength and resistance to tear. This style blanket may be secured in place by using Blanket Pine, Ty-Straps or may be tied down using the eyelets. Taping Insulating Blankets in place is not a recommended work practice, as the adhesive on the tape can be absorbed into the blanket. Certain Insulating Blankets are available without eyelets for those who prefer a plain style. 2) Slotted Blanket This style of Insulating Blanket is designed to increase the versatility and flexibility of a standard blanket for special cover-up requirements. Offered in three sizes, the slotted design is ideal cover-up for ridge-pins, cross arms with insulators or anywhere where a wire, pin or projection interferes with the proper placement of other cover-up devices. The Split Blanket can be secured in place by Blanket Pins or Ty-Straps. On the 22" and 36" square blankets you can utilize the twenty-eight (28) eyelets for snap button application. A reinforcing bead of rubber along the edge and slot increases the strength and tear resistance of the blanket. The 46" square blanket has ten (10) reinforced eyelets and an extra rubber pad at the end of the slot for added strength at this point. 3) SNAP BUTTON Blanket This style of Insulating Blanket is designed to be held in place by the use of Blanket Buttons. The button method of fastening is secure and prevents any opening or shifting of the blanket while in use. Twenty-eight (28) reinforced button eyelets line the edge, enabling the blanket to be fixed into many irregular shapes. The reinforced beaded edge increases the strength and tear resistance of the blanket. Easy application, thumb pressure on the large head of the #B-1 Blanket Button snaps the button through the eyelets. A firm pull opens the blanket for removal while the buttons stay in their original eyelet position. B-1 Blanket buttons can be ordered separately or by adding the suffix "B" to SNAP-BUTTON Blanket Catalog Numbers, i.e., 1500-B. 4) ZIP-ON Blanket Covering energized equipment is made easy with ZIP-ON style insulating Blankets. This style provides for a fast and easy application to go with the secure holding power of Velcro. Many utilities have realized the value of using this style in both primary and secondary cover-up applications. Extra equipment is not needed to hold these blankets in place. The interlocking of the Velcro hook and pile provides excellent holding power. The 1" wide strips of Velcro tape fastener are double stitched to the blanket with a tough nylon thread to provide years of service. ZIP-ON blankets can be manufactured to fit special cover-up requirements. |
