Easy Energy Saving Tips

You don't need to spend a lot to start saving money on your energy. Try a few of these suggestions and you'll start saving money and energy immediately.

• Set your thermostat to a comfortably low temperature in the winter and a comfortably high temperature in the summer.
• Set the thermostat on your water heater to 120 degrees F.
• For water savings, take showers instead of baths.
• Don't run your dishwasher or washing machine until you have a full load.
• Instead of using your dishwasher's drying cycle, air-dry your dishes.
• Drive with thought and purpose. Don't speed, brake or accelerate rapidly. These types of actions waste gasoline.
• When purchasing home appliances and products, look for the Energy Star. Products with the Energy Star label meet strict efficiency guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Energy to maximize energy savings.

• Turn off your computer and monitor when not using them.
• Plug your home electronic equipment like TVs, DVD players, game consoles into power strips and then turn off the power strips when you're not using the equipment (electronic equipment will still use several watts of power even in standby mode)
• Consider installing Solar Panels to utilize the natural light of the sun to reduce your electric usage.
