The Extended Lip SU System is a versatile cover-up system that may be installed by using Rubber Insulating Gloves or Hot Sticks on distribution voltages through 34.5kV, depending on company work practices.

Extended Lip SU System Line Hose, Insulator Covers and Connectors are specifically designed for easy application and removal with the use of hot sticks. Most SU System devices have permanent molded eyelets for easy use with tie sticks or they incorporate items that make this equipment compatible for use with standard Shot Gun or Universal Style Hot Sticks. SU System Applicators come in three styles.

The Hardwood Blade Applicators are available with either a universal fitting or an eye for shot guns. The 24" long blade is recommended for installing 3' and 4.5' Line Hose. The 36" blade works best on 6' Line Hose, while the 6" blade handles application and removal of shorter lengths of Line Hose. The prong extending from one side of the universal head is used for placement and removal of SU System Insulator Covers, Cutout Covers, Stirrup Covers and Connectors when using the molded eyelets of the equipment.

The New Universal System Tool Cat. No. UST installs short lengths of hose. It also removes any style, length or size of Extended Lip SU System Line Hose. The UST is also used to apply Blanket Clamp Pins. The No. 21, 20 or 26 pin can be rotated 360 degrees making it possible to pin Rubber Insulating Blankets or Insulator Covers from any angle. The Universal Pig Tail Disconnect #9878 may be used to remove Blanket Clamp Pins as well as for placing and removing SU System Line Hose and other equipment.

The Shot Gun Eye Assemblies for SU System equipment may be purchased separately for installation on the appropriate cover-up device. The addition of these Eye Assemblies enables all SU System equipment to be easily handled with a standard Shot Gun.
