Linemen working from insulated platforms or aerial devices, should be concerned with the possibility of accidental crossphase contacts as well as phase to ground contacts. Rubber Insulating Sleeves provide personal protection against this accidental brush contact with energized lines and equipment. All sleeves are manufactured in Style B, curved elbow design that follows the natural curvature of the arm. They are flexible and bend easy without bunching at the elbow. A halogenous finish further increases the comfort since surface friction is reduced between the sleeve and the arm. Voltage Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 are available in one piece molded Type I natural rubber. Type II, molded sleeves are available in Class 1 and 2 in either orange or black molded SALCOR ozone resistant elastomer. Dipped sleeves are available in Class 1, 2, 3 and 4, Type I natural rubber only. Molded sleeves are seamless and completely formed and vulcanized in one process using chromium plated molds. Small reinforcing beads at the wrist and arm opening give increased strength as well as additional comfort under the arm and at the wrist when inserted inside Rubber Insulating Gloves. The design of the sleeve also provides ample room for heavy winter clothing. Dipped sleeves are seamless and available in solid colors as well as two-color combination for those who like the easy inspection a contrasting color gives. A reinforced wrist band is standard, giving the user additional comfort when worn inside rubber gloves. A hand folded bead provides added strength at the arm opening. A rolled bead may also be provided at the wrist on special order. This design also provides ample room for winter clothing. Every sleeve is visually inspected and electrically tested at its rated proof test voltage prior to packing. All SALISBURY Rubber Insulated Sleeves are tested using water electrodes straight mounting. This test puts the least stress on the sleeve during the ASTM D1051 water to water test. Rubber Insulating Sleeves may be branded with serial numbers or letters for a small charge. Always specify the numbering sequence when ordering.
